A Reality Check.

I am so amazed at the attitude of the twenty-thirty something group of young people today.  It seems to me that many of them want the pleasures of life, i.e., family, home, job, wealth, etc. without understanding all of these things require work and sacrifice.  They want great jobs, but they don’t want to work hard; they want children and a home, but they don’t want to cook or clean when they get it.  It seems many of them want to have children, but they don’t want the responsibility of rearing them.  They are interested in retirement before they have actually earned enough time to retire.  When I was in my twenties and thirties, I was taught that whatever I wanted in life, I had to work hard in order to achieve it.  I was taught there is no good without a bad; there is no up without a down; there is no win, without a lose.  Maybe I grew up in the wrong era and there is no such thing as a down side.  Maybe we can all just ignore the realities of life and wait on someone else to do the dirty work while we just enjoy the benefits.  I think my generation has done a great dis-service to this generation because they are living in an alternate universe that is rapidly spinning out of control unless we start teaching them the real facts of life…Everything is not fun and games.  Life entails many, many good things, but just as many unpleasant things have to be factored in to make it all worthwhile.  Free yourself, you’ll feel better!
