There is an old saying that cautions us against trying to be like the Jones, but I would say, it depends on who the Jones are. If the Jones are people who don’t plan; spend more than they bring in; strive to keep up appearances rather than having actual substance, then I say don’t be like the Jones. However, if the Jones are working hard, living within their means and are forward thinking people, there’s nothing wrong with patterning yourself after them. Most of us learn by example and there is nothing wrong with trying to immulate something that is good; just be sure you have your eye on the right thing. Someone said the greatest form of flattery is “imitation”. Don’t just be a copy cat, but make sure you know where you are going and why you are going there. Free yourself, you’ll feel better.
