Since writing my first book, Enlightenment-Looking Back To Move forward, I have had many people come up to me and say, “I’ve always wanted to write a book, but I don’t know where to start.” I understand their dilemma very well because I felt the same way prior to writing my own book. My thoughts were similar to many of the people who spoke to me about their desire to write. I had no clue where to start. I had several plots for stories that I thought were good rolling around in my head, but I didn’t know how to get these ideas on to paper. The first thing I decided to do was to talk with others who had already accomplished the task I wanted to undertake. Then I started doing research about using a traditional publisher versus self-publishing. Additionally, I proceeded to read other books and information from the computer about writing a book. The next thing I did was to take several on-line classes/webinars geared towards new and budding authors. All of these things were valuable because it helped me to realize that I was not alone in my quest to write a book. A lot of people have pondered over the idea of sharing stories from their lives, but if I could share one piece of advice with someone who is contemplating telling their own story, that advice would be to: “Just get started!!!” Today is the day and now is the time. Procrastination is not your friend. Everyone may not have the ability to write a book or the desire to write a book, but if you have a burning desire to do it; don’t waste another minute thinking about it, just do it.
